Yesterday she told us she was looking forward to this race and was ready to finally win this title that eluded her for so long. Janine Jungfels has found in Andorra a terrain that suited her with passages in the river, rain, passages that required power. She had it all mounted on the top step, and it was with Carles Diaz she did it. She did not know yet when she entered section 4, but she was already world champion. Janíčková and Reichenbach trying everything but the Australian was too strong today.
The joy of Janine, obviously contrasts with the disappointment of Tatiana Janíčková whom lost the rainbow jersey. But she is a great competitor, despite a heavy fall in the first round in section 2 she continued furiously to fight, then after a fall in the river the title already gone, she continued to complete in second place. She had not come for that but the Slovak is a competitor to the forefront and will remain.
Germany’s Nina Reichenbach showed some great things despite of her youth, she still lacks a little power and experience to get Janine and Tatiana. We assure you she does not miss much, the rest of her career is shaping up very well. she will one day win the rainbow jersey that is a certainty.
Behind this brilliant trio Marie Krikova made a fantastic finale at all points. Despite her lack of experience, she was at the height of the event and defended her fourth place of the semi finals. She has a determination and power that shows it will not stop here. All Czech team was behind her. The hope of the podium, lasted almost until the end … she’s only 5 points behind Nina Reichenbach! We will hear of Mary in the future.
In fifth place, the French Manon Basseville made us forget she has been riding trials only for 3 years! After a first round 20, she improves her second round. Despite the conditions and terrain that reminded us of old school trials, that are Caisso coach Marc and his coach Giacomo Coustellier love more than anything, Manon has produced a commitment that leaves too great hopes for the future.
The Swiss Debi Studer , has never found the right rhythm but since last year she is present on all races. A beautiful sixth place for her, she vifed four sections in this really tough final. Section builders left no respite to the finalists … to our delight it must be recognized.
Well done girls, it is with such performances that the Women’s Trial asserts itself year after year.
