Inspired Bicycles are pleased to announce the arrival of the brand new Skye Team 24” street bike, as ridden by street riding legend Danny MacAskill in his incredible Imaginate video. With a classy new shot blast blue finish, revised geometry (as requested by Danny himself), improved tubing and an updated spec, Danny’s signature bike is now better than ever!
Developed to meet the specific and evolving demands of a new generation of progressive street and trials riders and refined by continual testing and feedback from Danny, the Skye has been updated and improved for this new model.
In accordance with Danny’s input, it has been given shorter chainstays and overall wheelbase, resulting in a livelier and more responsive ride and making it much quicker on the back wheel; perfect for the advanced tricks and creative lines that today’s street riders are pulling!
The bolt through axles (20mm front, 12mm rear) remain, but these too have been updated for the new model and now feature a more durable hard anodised finish; now you can have even more confidence in your bike as you attempt the sort of intimidating and dangerous lines that Danny rides on a daily basis. In addition to this, a one-piece bottom bracket and chainstay yoke and unique seatstay yoke also help maximise stiffness and offer sharper reactions and improved feel when riding at the limit.
New butted tubing and a lighter yoke design help to keep the overall weight of the bike down while at the same time maximising the frame durablilty. The frame features a reinforced IS disc mount for use with a rear disc brake only. Exclusive-design seat and chainstay tubing improves both crank and heel clearance while the simplified dropouts and neat CNC gear hanger maintain the clean and stylish look of the frame. The front end has been toughened up with a 1.5″ tapered headtube, complemented by 1.5″ 7075 aluminium tapered steerer forks.
The complete bike has an updated spec that features many of the components used by Danny himself on his own personal bike. These include custom bolt through Hope hubs, a Hope stem, Atomlab rims, Danny’s signature Continental 24″ street tyres and the brand new Inspired Team seat (with an extra-tough Kevlar cover, custom Pivotal bolt cover and stylish Inspired label stitched into the shoulder seam). Each component has been carefully chosen to provide the high strength and durability that the frame and fork demand without resulting in an excessively high weight. Every aspect of the bike has been analysed to ensure that it performs at the highest level possible and every detail has been considered; even the wheels are individually laced and 100% hand built in the UK by specialists who have the necessary experience to create wheels which can handle just about any level of riding.
Danny MacAskill says: « The new geometry of the Skye frame and fork is basically a refined version of the original. The shorter back end makes it even better on the back wheel and it manuals better than ever! The new front end, with the tapered headtube, is much more resilient and makes things feel even stiffer. The whole bike is much livelier and it just does exactly what I tell it to. I love it. The cool new blue finish means it jumps higher too.«
